We expect that you will witness value added in your business in different ways – aside from the more visible signs on a profit sheet.
We are neutral, as we are not freight forwarders, so we can focus on your needs in expanding your business within your own country and internationally.
We believe linking people, combining our strengths and forces and working together will result in benefits for all our members. These benefits include providing more cost effective products and services and building a stronger market awareness for all our members.
The WLA package of products and services reflects what we have learnt from our own experiences in this industry and others as well as from discussions with freight forwarders. We are committed to continue these conversations with you. Together we can create a community that really delivers to its members what they need from a freight forwarders’ network and beyond.
We understand the challenges of being established as well as those of being ‘green’. WLA is pleased to be able to offer a tiered membership program. The opportunity for brand new freight forwarders or to those that have less than 24 months in the industry, this will mean a network that supports you in your want to be part of a global network.
For our more experienced members, we will be providing opportunities for you to grow even further by providing a healthy and vibrant networking community for you to be part of. We are offering you a range of products and services that we believe will meet and exceed our competitors’ offerings. We intend to keep on building on these offerings as more members come on board, making the most of the knowledge and expertise that more members can bring to a network. We intend to keep on investing in the network to provide you with a network you are proud to be part of.
At this stage we are keeping our team lean and focused. We have structured ourselves so that we can be responsive to your needs and grow with you.
Tom Pagels is our lead network facilitator and founder. Tom has had over 22 years experience in the logistics industry. He has worked in both management and operations within the freight forwarding industry. He started his career in the industry as a team member of one of the first 24 hour courier companies established in Germany. From there he broadened his experience with different freight forwarding and logistic businesses in Africa, USA, Australasia and Asia .
Tom has been a member of many formal and informal networks and has supported the start up of new networks. Tom is passionate about the value that comes from building businesses relationships. He is dedicated full time to developing the World Logistics Alliance.
Tom currently has a small team of facilitators and support people working with him.
Glen Li is our Co Facilitator and Product Developer.With over 20 years in the cargo industry, in business himself for more the 15 years with close to 400 employees , 5 international offices.Glen has been great value bringing his experience , connections and passion to the WLA network .Glen is in charge of designing products and finding the partners to facilitate these products in cooperation with WLA.
Mirella Di Genua is a stakeholder engagement, facilitation, change management and communications’ specialist with over 18 years experience across a number of industries. Mirella is passionate about building relationships between various stakeholders within an organisation or across a network or community. Mirella’s role will be to facilitate dialogue and discussions between members through the various communication and networking activities.
Penelope Cambell is our events manager and manages as well the admin department. With 16 years experience in these fields Penelope adds great value to our team and has got a few fabulous ideas for our conferences venues, which will make a huge difference to all of us ,it will make it an experience.
Over the next 6 -12 months WLA will establish a committee of members that will become co-network facilitators and advisers for each continent.Volunteers will be welcome, but it is not a given that you will become a committee member .The existing committee will discuss and vote to establish for a new committee member to come on board .
